How to clear your browser's cache

That said, there might be moments where your browser behaves unexpectedly, such as slow load times, error messages, or outdated web page content. Often, this can be resolved by clearing your browser's cache. Let's walk you through the process, step-by-step, for several popular browsers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Clearing your browser cache can log you out of sites you're currently signed into and can also delete temporary files that your browser has stored for quicker access. It's a good idea to keep these points in mind before proceeding.

Google Chrome

1. Click on the three dots located at the top right corner of your browser window, to open the menu.

2. Select "More tools" then "Clear browsing data..."

3. A new tab will open with the "Clear browsing data" box. Here, select the "Cached images and files" checkbox.

4. You can choose the time range at the top. To clear everything, select "All time".

5. Click "Clear data."

Mozilla Firefox

1. Click on the three lines (the hamburger icon) at the top right corner of your browser window.

2. From the drop-down menu, click on "Options."

3. Select the "Privacy & Security" panel on the left.

4. Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section, then click "Clear Data..."

5. In the pop-up window, uncheck "Cookies and Site Data" and check "Cached Web Content", then click "Clear."

Safari

1. Click on "Safari" in the menu bar, then select "Preferences..."

2. In the preferences window, go to the "Advanced" tab.

3. Check the box at the bottom that says "Show Develop menu in menu bar."

4. Close the Preferences window. There should now be a new "Develop" option in your menu bar.

5. Click on "Develop", then select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

Microsoft Edge

1. Click on the three dots at the top right corner of your browser window.

2. From the drop-down menu, select "Settings."

3. Under the "Clear browsing data" section, click on "Choose what to clear."

4. Make sure "Cached data and files" is checked, then click on "Clear."

Internet Explorer

1. Click on the gear icon at the top right corner of your browser window.

2. Select "Safety", then "Delete browsing history..."

3. A pop-up window will appear. Make sure "Temporary Internet files and website files" is checked, then click "Delete."

Opera

1. Click the Opera logo in the top-left corner and select Settings.

2. In the left sidebar, click on ”Privacy & security”.

3. Under the Clear browsing data section, click on “Choose what to clear”.

4.In the pop-up window, select the “Cached images and files” checkbox and click “Clear data”.
