Who can use this feature?
All users, except for guests, can use the recurring tasks feature.
How to configure a recurring task
First, you need to open the task you want to make recurring. Once open, click on the double arrow icon from the upper right section to set the scheduling options.
Then you'll have to choose whether this task will repeat on a daily (1), weekly (2) or monthly (3) basis - and each of these options has its own settings.
For a daily recurrence, you can set the frequency (every X days). You can also set a date for this repetition to start and how many days it will last. Finally, you can add the recurrence end date and the status assigned to newly created tasks.
If you want the task to recur on a weekly basis, you’ll also need to define the frequency and select the days of the week the task should recur on. Just like the daily recurrence, you can also set a date for it to start and how long it will last. Finally, you can define the end date and status.
As for the monthly recurrence, the process is very similar to the daily one: define the frequency for this task’s recurrence (every X months), a date for it to start and how long it will last. Finally, you can add an end date and the status assigned to newly created tasks.
Once configured, the double arrow icon from the task upper right section should turn blue and the original recurring task will become the reference task for all new tasks created - and all information in it will be copied over to the new ones.
IMPORTANTE NOTICE: If for some reason you archive an entire status where a recurring task would be created, it will automatically appear in the first status available in your task list.
How to edit or delete a recurring task
If you want to edit or change a recurring task, just go to the most recent one created, click on the double arrow icon from the task upper right section (which should be in blue color) and change any information you want - this will become the new reference task used to create new ones. This also goes for additions you make to the most recent task like checklists, for example.
To delete a recurring task, go to the recurring task you wish to delete, click on the recurring task icon and then click on the Delete button.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: you must consider some “edge cases'' such as when the recurring task falls on the 31st of the month, but that month does not contain 31 days, the recurring task will fall back on the last day of the month, for example. Keep that in mind!
We know creating routine tasks can be time-consuming and time-wasting, but this feature allows you and your team to make that pain disappear: through simple and few clicks, thousands of repetitive tasks can be created by the users. Try it out now!
